some of the prototypes next to the final product.
As part of an animation project developed for CCTV, we created a series of animation workshops to be run with local schools.
These taught the basics of animation using stop-motion and hand-drawn animatics.
We built several electric zoetropes to show how still images can be turned into an animation and also developed this DIY zoetrope which could be constructed by participants and taken away at the end of the workshop.
The concept is a card cylinder into which different animations (supplied and DIY) can be slipped and then viewed by spinning on the point of a pencil.
The concept was so successful that we have used it many more times for workshops and demonstrations.
